Leading independent distributor of off-grid power solutions Blue Diamond Machinery was delighted to partner with the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, to power the 2022 MACA Cancer 200 Ride for Research.

Cyclists from all walks of life pedalled in support of a cause which brings people together, to help develop kinder treatments and better outcomes, for those touched by cancer. The MACA Cancer 200 - a 200km journey from Optus Stadium to Mandurah - raises vital funds to support cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.

The two-day charity ride – now in its 11th year – inspires beginners and professionals alike to hit the pedals in the fight against cancer.

Blue Diamond donated power generators to support cyclist campsite amenities and services, and to make their overnight stay a little more comfortable. Blue Diamond also donned the lycra at the MACA Cancer 200, generating more than $35,000 in donations, which will contribute to more than 100 hours of cancer research.

Blue Diamond Director, Justin Pitts said, “Blue Diamond is proud to support the MACA Cancer 200 as a sponsor, and as a cycling team.

“The ride continues to highlight the power of people coming together for a good cause, which is in sync with our core values of supporting our local community.

“I’m delighted Blue Diamond could raise more than $35,000 for cancer research and could also sponsor the MACA Cancer 200. None of this would’ve been the same without the support of our friends and partners at WELLTECH TOTAL WATER MANAGEMENT, Bon Electrics and Melchor MEP.”

More than $8.5 million has been generated by participants for cancer research and support services at the Harry Perkins Institute, with participants required to raise a minimum of $2,500 to earn their official MACA Cancer 200 jersey. Proceeds from the MACA Cancer 200 will support the Harry Perkins Institute to make discoveries in cancer prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment.

In 2022, proceeds from the MACA Cancer 200 will support Australian-first melanoma research led by Chair of Melanoma Discovery, Professor Jonas Nilsson.

Australia has the world’s highest rates of melanoma - often consider Australia’s ‘national cancer’ – with one Australian diagnosed every 30 minutes. Only 50 per cent of melanoma patients in WA benefit from the immunotherapy treatments currently available.
